PageDrop is winding down. Here's how to move your pages.

PageDrop's banner says: "New sales and open uploads have ended. Existing Creator Passes can be redeemed until 31 October 2026, 11:59 PM SGT; unused uses then expire without refund. PageDrop will remain online until the last existing page reaches its stated expiry."

So your pages won't all disappear on October 31. Each one stays up until its own expiry, which for pages made with PageDrop's upload form was 3 days (private) or 14 days (public on Explore). PageDrop's terms also say a page isn't guaranteed to stay up for its full time.

There's one more catch. PageDrop pages can't be edited, deleted or exported, and PageDrop doesn't offer a way to download them. Your original file, or a copy you save while the page still loads, is the only version you'll have. Save it first. Then here's how to move it to Handoff, and what changes when you do. One difference up front: PageDrop let you publish without an account. Handoff needs a free account before you upload. The people you share with still don't need one.

Handoff in one line: upload an HTML, Markdown or image file and get a link like handoff.host/@you/page-name. Upload a new version and the link stays the same; earlier versions stay at /v/1/, /v/2/.

How to move a page, step by step

  1. List the pages you still need. Search Slack, email and docs for your PageDrop links. Start with the ones that expire soonest.
  2. Save the HTML now, while the page still loads. Use your original file if you have it. If not, open the PageDrop link and use File → Save Page As, or view the source and save it as a .html file. Once a page expires, PageDrop has no copy for you, and its support address doesn't cover free uploads or expired pages. If the page had a PageDrop password, you'll need that password to open it, since PageDrop has no password recovery.
  3. Create a Handoff account. You need one to upload. Sign up with email or Google. If you need passwords or more than five pages, sign up for Pro and you'll go to checkout right after creating your account. Otherwise start free, no credit card needed, and upgrade later.
  4. Upload each page. Handoff has three ways to upload: the dashboard, the Claude Code skill and the API. For moving PageDrop pages, the dashboard is the simplest.
    • Dashboard (recommended): open your dashboard and upload the .html file you saved. If the page uses separate image files, the uploader accepts those too. You can type the page name for the link (3 to 50 lowercase letters, numbers or hyphens), or leave it blank and Handoff uses the file name. Your page gets a link like handoff.host/@you/page-name. To update it later, upload to the same name and it becomes a new version.

    • Claude Code skill: in the dashboard, copy the setup prompt and paste it into Claude Code. That sets up the Handoff skill, which uploads through the Handoff API with your token. After that, you can ask Claude Code to upload files for you.

    • API: copy your token from Dashboard > Settings > API token. Every account gets one at signup. Then:

      curl -X POST https://handoff.host/api/upload/ \
        -H "Authorization: Bearer $HANDOFF_API_TOKEN" \
        -F "[email protected]" \
        -F "slug=my-page"

      See the API docs.

  5. Open the new link on your phone and laptop and check it looks right before you share it.
  6. Swap the old links. PageDrop links can't point to Handoff, so replace them where you shared them. You only do this once: when you change the page later, upload a new version from the dashboard and the link stays the same.
  7. Holding unused Creator Pass uses? You can redeem them until 31 October 2026, 11:59 PM SGT. After that they expire without refund.

What changes when you move

What you get on Handoff

  • A readable link at handoff.host/@you/page-name.
  • Updates keep the same link. A PageDrop upload can never change, so every fix meant a new link. On Handoff, upload a new version and the main link shows the latest. Every earlier version stays at /v/1/, /v/2/, and your dashboard lists them all (why that matters).
  • No expiry timer. Handoff links are permanent; there's no TTL to pick, earn or extend.
  • You can delete a page when you're done with it. PageDrop pages couldn't be removed.
  • Password protection on Pro. Set, change or remove a password from the file's page in your dashboard, much like PageDrop's built-in passwords.
  • Markdown rendered as a page, plus image hosting.
  • Viewers don't need an account to open your link. Only you, the uploader, sign up.

What's different

  • You sign up first. PageDrop needed no signup. Handoff needs a free account to upload, with no credit card. You can sign up with email or Google.
  • New URLs. Your old PageDrop links stay on PageDrop until they expire. You share new Handoff links.
  • No custom subdomains or custom domains. PageDrop offered custom paths and subdomains. Handoff links always look like handoff.host/@you/page-name.
  • File types. PageDrop hosted single HTML files with inline CSS and JavaScript. Handoff hosts HTML, Markdown and images, so a PageDrop page should move as-is. Pages can also include separate image files.
  • Size limits. PageDrop allowed files up to 16 MB. Handoff allows 2 MB pages on Free and 10 MB on Pro (images: 5 MB and 20 MB). A very large page may not fit.
  • Five free pages. The Free plan holds 5 files. Moving more than that means Pro, or moving only the ones that matter. Uploading a new version of an existing page always works, even at the limit.
  • A small Handoff bar shows on free-plan links. Pro removes it.
  • Not for full apps. Handoff is for single pages, not sites with routing, server-side logic or databases. For those, a full host like Vercel is the better fit.

What it costs

If you paid PageDrop for a Creator Pass or a TTL extension, you were paying for uploads and for time. On Handoff, no page expires on either plan, so you don't pay for time. Pro is what adds the parts PageDrop pass holders will miss:

  • Password protection. PageDrop built it in for everyone. On Handoff it's Pro only.
  • Higher limits than Handoff Free. Unlimited files instead of 5, pages up to 10 MB instead of 2 MB, and images up to 20 MB instead of 5 MB. PageDrop allowed single pages up to 16 MB, so a page bigger than 10 MB still won't fit.
  • No Handoff bar on your links.

Both plans:

  • Free: $0. 5 files, 2 MB pages, 5 MB images, versioned URLs. Shared links show a small Handoff bar. No password protection. No credit card.
  • Pro: $5/month. Unlimited files, 10 MB pages, 20 MB images, no Handoff bar, password protection. Billed monthly, cancel anytime.

FAQ

Do my PageDrop links stop working on October 31? No, not all at once. October 31, 2026, 11:59 PM SGT is the last moment to redeem existing Creator Passes. PageDrop says it "will remain online until the last existing page reaches its stated expiry", so each page goes offline on its own date.

Can I download or edit my page on PageDrop? No. Uploads can't be edited or deleted, and PageDrop has no export. Save a copy from your browser while the page still loads.

Can PageDrop support recover an expired page? PageDrop's contact page offers support only for paid purchases and security issues, not free uploads or expired pages. Keep your own copy.

Do I need an account? To upload, yes: create a free Handoff account first (no credit card). The people you share links with don't need one.

Do I need to use the terminal? No. Upload from your browser in the dashboard. The other two ways, the Claude Code skill and the API, are there if you want them.

Can I password-protect a page like I did on PageDrop? Yes, on the Pro plan. PageDrop included passwords for everyone; on Handoff they're a Pro feature, and the Free plan doesn't include them. Set the password from the file's page in your dashboard. Get Pro for $5/month, or upgrade an existing account.

Can I keep my PageDrop URL? No. Your new link will be on handoff.host. After that, every new version keeps that one link.

I have more than five pages. The Free plan covers 5 files. Pro is $5/month for unlimited files. Get Pro, or start free and move the five that matter most.

Do Handoff pages expire? No. A page stays up until you delete it. Use the Delete button on the file's page in your dashboard, or the API. Deleting removes the page and all its versions; you can't delete a single version.

I made my pages with an AI tool. Does that change anything? No. If you copied HTML out of Claude or ChatGPT, save it as a .html file and upload it in the dashboard. If you work in Claude Code, set up the Handoff skill and it can upload for you.

Is Handoff the right fit for every page? No. It's built for single pages you'll keep updating. For multi-file sites, PageDrop's own FAQ points to Netlify, Vercel or GitHub Pages, and that's fair advice.

Get Pro for $5/month: password protection, unlimited files and 10 MB pages Pages don't expire on either plan. Already have an account? Upgrade to Pro. Or start free.
